History
Streets lined with Fir trees bring you into this beautiful park, where there are families strolling with their children, people jogging, riding their bicycles ... this is West Lawn today. There are few who recall the history of this cemetery located at 225 S. Danebo St., Eugene, OR 97402. Many people drive by everyday & are not aware of the life in this beautifully serene cemetery.
Our Past

In 1900, the Bethesda Lutheran Church was established. In 1902 the congregation purchased land on Danebo Road (now West Lawn Memorial Park), built a church building and established a cemetery next to it, now known as the Danish/Bethesda section of West Lawn Memorial Park.
In 1926, the congregation chose to remove itself from the cemetery business. The land surrounding the Danish/Bethesda section was given to the LO.O.F. with the agreement that the congregation would retain their section and West Lawn would be responsible for perpetual care.
In 1962, our first Mausoleum was built and named, Garden "D". In 1982, we added on the chapel, offices and our first indoor Mausoleum, named Garden "C".
In 1984, West Lawn Memorial Park was established as a Funeral Home. This enabled families to have all their immediate needs met at one location, while never having to forgo personal service. |
